My ex-sister in-law was out one day with her two eldest girls when they threw a huge tantrum, her response was to throw herself on the ground in the middle of the shopping centre and kick and punch and scream that she wanted them not to throw a tantrum ... to say the girls were horrified would be an understatement .. Ms Mum then got up and asked the girls if they were embarrassed and if she looked silly to which they replied yes !!! She then pointed out that, that was how they made her feel and how they looked .. they never threw another tantrum again and also told the story enough times to the younger two kids that they too have never thrown a tantrum ! pricelessAndrew Swanssonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14892152969564585782noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7127317602301649739.post-63184130193830587502011-01-19T19:26:38.224+10:002011-01-19T19:26:38.224+10:00I don't negotiate with terrorists either. I learnt at a pretty young age that if I nagged my mother enough I would always get my own way (and I'm talking 8 or 9 years of age) and I swore I'd never be like that. No means no with my kids. If they're having a tantrum I just pick them up and remove them from the situation. Kids are kids and they get frustrated and tired and don't know how to express it. I don't care if they don't like it, I never want to reward bad behaviour. It pays off in the end. But lord knows I've wanted to throw a tantrum myself on more than one occasion LOL.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15527588191107839720noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7127317602301649739.post-30437653541564421672011-01-03T19:19:01.389+10:002011-01-03T19:19:01.389+10:00Truly, a fabulous post Ms Quixotic and I agree wit...Truly, a fabulous post Ms Quixotic and I agree with you a bazillion percent. We had THE MOTHER of all tantrums last week ..... luckily at home ... but it went for 45 minutes. There was NO WAY in hell I was going to give in so I just left him to it. I knew when he woke that we were going to have an "interesting" day so it was just one of those days that no matter what I tried it wasn't going to avoid a tantrum. In public, it's more about avoiding the horrid glares of other women than anything else, women who should know there's nothing you can do to avoid the tantrum.

Happy 2011 to you and your loves! xxxCathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11556843852780239036noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7127317602301649739.post-32837535916772915062010-12-31T16:27:51.010+10:002010-12-31T16:27:51.010+10:00Hi Quixy. I am very proud of your parenting and you are raising a kind, caring, well-mannered little girl. Sure, she throws the odd wobbly but she wouldn't be your child without a bit of attitude!!Hke68336https://www.blogger.com/profile/14698747905346529712noreply@blogger.com
